Samsung Galaxy A30 Gaming Review with Frame Rate and Temperature Measurements

The Samsung Galaxy A30 is powered by an Exynos 7904 chipset with a 1.8GHz octa-core CPU and 4GB of RAM.

Is this setup enough for a great gaming performance? I played Mobile Legends, NBA 2K19 and PUBG Mobile to find out the phone’s frame rate and temperature in this gaming review.

Mobile Legends

I tried to max out the graphics settings of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. However, the Samsung Galaxy A30 doesn’t have the high frame rate mode.

Still, the device achieved a very stable frame rate of 30 fps as measured by Gamebench. It also stayed cool after a game at 35°C.

NBA 2K19

Similarly, I set all graphics settings of NBA 2K19 to the highest options available. These include cloth simulation and depth of field both at ultra high.

Based on a 10-minute session, the average frame rate is 20 fps only. It’s not very smooth but still playable with the temperature remaining at 35°C.

PUBG Mobile

Upon launching PUBG Mobile, the Samsung Galaxy A30 automatically set the graphics to medium but I manually set it to HD and high frame rate.

After a full game, the average frame rate is 21 fps only. It can still go lower during busy scenes since the fps stability is 72% only while the temperature is 39°C.

Gaming Review Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy A30 can only run casual games smoothly. Games like Mobile Legends are playable but not very smooth.

More resource intensive games like NBA 2K19 and PUBG Mobile are laggy especially if the graphics are set to high. On the positive side, the device remains cool even after playing games for a long time.
