At a starting price of ₱8,999, I classify the HONOR X7d as a budget-friendly smartphone especially when purchased with a discount. I’ve been using it for several weeks while testing its performance, cameras, battery life and overall user experience.
Some of its notable perks include a durable design, large battery and 108MP main camera. However, there are also some concerns about its performance. Here’s my full review.
Design & Build Quality
The HONOR X7d features a flat design with a square rear camera module. The power and volume buttons are positioned on the right side, while an AI Button is on the left, which can launch apps and tasks. In my experience, it’s mostly useful for quick app access.
The matte finish on the back prevents fingerprints and smudges, and this applies to all color variants: Velvet Black, Desert Gold, and Ocean Cyan.
As expected at this price point, the frame and back are made of plastic, but the phone feels sturdy and comfortable to hold.
HONOR highlights its durability features, including 2-meter drop resistance and an IP65 rating, meaning it’s dust-tight and resistant to rain which is a practical advantage in the Philippines’ weather.
I used it under moderate rain and sprayed water using a garden hose without noticeable damage.
Overall, the HONOR X7d is well-built for everyday and long-term use despite its budget positioning.
Display
The HONOR X7d has a 6.77-inch display with HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and a punch-hole for the selfie camera.
It’s not the sharpest screen in this price range but it’s a bright display reaching 700nits of brightness outdoors. Texts and graphics remain legible when used under bright sunlight.
There are also several eye protection features including a low blue light mode and super low brightness for night-time browsing.
Performance, OS and Apps
The HONOR X7d runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 685 paired with 8GB RAM. It handles basic tasks well, though gaming performance is modest.
It scored 497,082 points on Antutu Benchmark and 468 points on Geekbench 6 which are typical numbers for entry-level hardware.
Popular games like Mobile Legends (MLBB) can run at a maximum of Ultra graphics quality but the gaming experience is better at Medium or High graphics quality. More resource-intensive games like Call of Duty Mobile (CODM) are limited to Low graphics quality.
Storage is one of its strengths, with 256GB and 512GB options, leaving plenty of room for videos and large apps.
It runs MagicOS 9 with features such as AI Eraser, AI Outpainting, and AI Eyes Open. The UI feels clean, and software support looks decent for the category.
Cameras
The HONOR X7d is equipped with a dual rear camera setup composed of a 108MP main camera and 2MP depth camera.
It can capture good-looking pictures especially during the day with sharp details and vibrant colors. Low-light shots can also look good especially when Night Mode is used although it tends to overdo the sharpening.
Videos have a maximum resolution of 1080p@30fps and look decent. There’s no video stabilization though.
Here are several sample pictures:
On the front of HONOR X7d is an 8 Megapixel selfie camera which produces decent selfies in well-lit situations. It tends to produce pale-looking selfies though.
It also has grainy low-light quality although that’s to be expected in this price range.
Here are some sample selfies:
Connectivity, Security and Sound Quality
The HONOR X7d is a dual SIM smartphone with 4G LTE connectivity. It can provide good mobile internet speeds in areas with non-congested 4G LTE signal coverage.
There’s a side-mounted fingerprint scanner on the power or sleep/wake button which is quick and quite reliable. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS also work well and there’s NFC too.
The sound quality of its stereo loudspeakers is decent but easily turns tinny at high volumes. It does not have a 3.5mm audio jack so USB type-C and Bluetooth earphones are the way to go.
Battery and Charging
The HONOR X7d has a massive 6,500mAh battery that can last 2 days on a single charge with my casual use. Continuous gaming (mainly ML) drains the battery in around 11 hours.
It’s a long-lasting battery although the results from the PCMark battery life test isn’t too impressive at 17 hours and 14 minutes.
Recharging the phone is still decently fast thanks to its bundled 35W fast charger. It reaches 100% battery capacity in about 1.5 hours which is still respectable given the large battery capacity.
Pricing and Availability
The HONOR X7d comes in two variants: the 8GB+256GB variant has an official price of ₱8,999 while the 8GB+512GB variant has an official price of ₱9,999. If I had to pick, I’ll go with the latter for its bigger storage.
There are several smartphones from other brands in this price range but the HONOR X7d stands out with its 108MP camera, durability features and long battery life.
It is now available in HONOR stores, authorized dealers, and official HONOR online stores on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop.
Conclusion
The HONOR X7d is a decent smartphone for budget-conscious casual users. It has a bright screen, enough performance for day-to-day tasks, plenty of storage, a standout camera in its price range, durable design, and long-lasting battery.
It’s not made for hard-core gamers though. The screen resolution is also a bit low given the large screen size.
Nevertheless, it’s a good pick among its competitors and can be a steal when purchased during promos with big discounts.
