It’s a good idea to have an affordable version of today’s flagship smartphones such as the Huawei P30 Lite which costs less than half of the flagship P30 smartphone.

Let’s see what’s inside the box of the Huawei P30 Lite and have a quick hands on experience with the device. I’ll then publish a full review after at least two weeks of testing.

What’s inside the Huawei P30 Lite box?

Opening the Huawei P30 Lite box reveals the smartphone itself, a SIM ejector tool, quick start guide, warranty certificate and a free transparent phone case.

Below those are its USB Type-C cable, Huawei Quick Charger with a maximum output of 9 Volts and 2 Amperes as well as a free set of earphones.

Those who have pre-ordered the device will also receive freebies in separate packaging.

The Huawei P30 Lite has a similar design language as its more expensive siblings. It has glass on the front, glass on the back and metal on the sides.

There’s a triple rear camera setup at the back as well as a fingerprint sensor. The SIM card tray is on the top while the power and volume buttons are on the right. A 3.5 mm audio jack is on the bottom together with the USB type-C port, microphone and loudspeaker.

It has a big 6.15-inch FHD+ display but it still feels compact thanks to a tall aspect ratio and slightly curved edges. There’s also a small notch for the selfie camera.

The phone runs on a Kirin 710 chipset with 6GB of RAM and Android 9 Pie with EMUI 9 software. So far, it feels smooth and fluid when navigating through the user interface as well as in opening apps.

There’s 113GB of free storage out of 128GB out of the box with just a few pre-installed third-party apps including Facebook, Booking and Netflix.

Here are my initial sample pictures shot using the Huawei P30 Lite:

I’ll be testing the performance of the Huawei P30 Lite in the coming weeks including its cameras and battery. Write your questions in the comments section and I’ll try to answer them in the full review.
