by Daniel Gubalane on Jan 29, 2018

Xiaomi is officially returning here in the Philippines! This was confirmed by Mr. Tony Lin, the company’s new sales manager in the country.

“We are trying to make online and offline [sales at] the same time,” he said. Two physical stores will be put up in NCR while official online stores are also being prepared on Lazada and Shopee.

More Xiaomi Products

While we are most excited about Xiaomi smartphones being officially sold in the Philippines, it’s not just mobile devices that will be offered by the company. There’s also accessories such as powerbanks, headsets and even bags.

The Xiaomi Redmi 5A is already confirmed to be one of the first smartphones that the company will sell in the country. Hopefully, the Mi Mix 2 and Mi A1 will also be on board.

New Business Strategy?

Xiaomi suffered when it used the online exclusive selling strategy in the Philippines back in 2016. Now, the company will test the performance of two physical stores. The opening is tentatively scheduled within February 2018. If successful, additional stores will be put up in other cities.

When asked about the tough competition from OPPO, Huawei and Vivo, Mr. Lin gave an interesting response. “I don’t consider them as competitors, in my perspective, we have different segment and user group,” he said.

What will make Xiaomi successful in the Philippines? Let’s discuss in the comments.
