Xiaomi launched the much awaited Mi 5 smartphone during the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona – a first time for the Chinese company to do so in an international stage.

The smartphone comes in three variants but all flaunt a 5.15-inch full HD display, run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820, equipped with a 16MP camera and available for the usual affordable price.

The 32GB Xiaomi Mi 5 is the most affordable among the three with an official price of $300 which is a little under ₱15,000. It comes with a slightly slower version of the Snapdragon 820 (1.8GHz) and just 3GB of RAM.

A faster processor (2.15GHz) and more RAM at 4GB is offered by the 64GB Xiaomi Mi 5. This is slightly pricier for $350 – that’s under ₱17,000.

Topping the three variants is the 128GB Xiaomi Mi 5 which is also known as the Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro and costs $400 (~₱20,000). It runs on the 2.15GHz Snapdragon 820, has 4GB of RAM and boasts a 3D ceramic back plate. The other two versions only have glass on their backs.

Aside from the processor and RAM, the Xiaomi Mi 5 also has 4G LTE Advanced connectivity which offers up to 600Mbps of download speed.

The 16MP camera also has a 4-axis optical image stabilization that counteracts movement in almost any direction while shooting videos and pictures.

Xiaomi Vice President Hugo Barra said that the Mi 5 will be available in countries that the company currently operates. The list includes the Philippines.
