Xiaomi adds another product to its rooster of cheap but high spec’ed gadgets – the Yi Action Camera which is poised to rival the GoPro Hero.

It boasts a 16.0 Megapixel image sensor from Sony capable of shooting up to 1080p videos at 60 frames per second or 480p at 240 fps (sample videos below)!

As you can see in the sample photo above, the Yi has a wide angle lens with a 155° field of vision. Xiaomi also employs software enhancement to prevent pictures from being too distorted.

Just like the GoPro Hero, the Yi Action Camera also has a companion app for iOS and Android devices that allows users to control the camera and share pictures.

Xiaomi will release different mounts for the Yi soon. For now, a selfie stick is the only one available. The company promises that you can attach the Yi even on your pet cat!

The Yi Action Camera supports up to 64GB microSD cards for storage. You can then use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth in transferring your photos and videos.

A 1010mAh battery powers the Yi. Colored notification lights indicate the Yi’s battery level.

Chinese retailers are already pre-selling the Yi Action Camera. There’s no word on international availability yet.
