I consider the OnePlus Nord 2T as a “premium mid-range” smartphone due to its impressive specs sheet that includes a Dimensity 1300 chipset, 50MP camera with OIS, and 80W ultra-fast charging.

After a week of being introduced in the Philippines, I finally received a review unit of the device. Here are my unboxing experience and first impressions.

The OnePlus Nord 2T comes in a black cardboard box with the NORD branding. Upon opening the box, I was greeted by a welcome letter from “The Nord Team”.

Underneath that are the Quick Start Guide, Safety Information pamphlet, FREE phone case, and SIM ejector pin. The phone case is translucent with geometric lines for design.

Then comes the smartphone itself. There’s also a USB Type-C cable in orange which is the signature color of OnePlus. It’s paired with a fast charger that supports 80W of fast charging.

Examining the OnePlus Nord 2T smartphone for the first time gave me an unmistakable mid-range impression.

The matte finish of its back makes it look pristine and the heft is reassuring – it’s a well-built and sturdy device. Its edges are slightly curved for ergonomics and the front panel is almost entirely occupied by the 6.43-inch AMOLED display.

However, the arrangement of the rear cameras seems unusual.

Setting up the OnePlus Nord 2T is quick and easy. As usual, there are no bloatware apps and the user interface looks clean and neat.

Swiping across the screen and scrolling social media feeds look and feel smooth with no apparent lags. This is undoubtedly the result of the new MediaTek Dimensity 1300 chipset and 90Hz screen refresh rate.

Checking the phone’s settings reveals more than 106GB of free storage, 8GB of RAM, and up to 5GB of RAM expansion which can further improve its performance.

Of course, my unboxing experience won’t be complete without checking the cameras of the OnePlus Nord 2T.

It uses the same 50 Megapixel Sony IMX766 main camera that has impressed me in other smartphones. The default camera app is also easy to use with a lot of hidden features in the Pro mode.

This camera shines in low-light conditions but here’s a picture of a flower I quickly snapped after unboxing:

I’ll test the OnePlus Nord 2T further in the coming days including some gaming tests, battery life tests, benchmarks, and camera samples.

It’s now available on the OnePlus Global Store on Lazada.
