I am amazed by how fast the OPPO R17 Pro re-charges its battery in just 35 minutes! This is because it’s using the company’s SuperVOOC Flash Charge technology.

Now, OPPO is licensing the technology to other chip and terminal makers. This opens the possibility of having car chargers, replacement chargers, other accessories and perhaps smartphones from other brands having the same crazy fast charging time as the OPPO R17 Pro and OPPO Find X.

What is licensing?

Since OPPO invented VOOC Flash Charge and patented the technology, they are the only company allowed to use it in their products.

In a recent event in Shanghai, China, OPPO announced that it’s opening the technology for licensing to other manufacturers. Essentially, other companies will simply have to pay OPPO to use VOOC. They don’t have to spend more time and money creating their own fast charging technology.

So far, six partners have already signed an agreement with OPPO for the licensing deal.

100 Million Devices Using VOOC

OPPO also announced that since the launch of VOOC Flash Charge in 2014, there are now over 100 million devices using the technology.

I have personally experienced the convenience of this technology while reviewing the OPPO R17 Pro last month.

The company also boasts the safety certification it got from TÜV Rheinland in Germany. The world renowned safety firm tested SuperVOOC Flash Charge and found it to be safe for consumer use.
