Right after the launch of the new iPhones for 2018, Huawei thanked Apple for ‘keeping things the same’.
This seems a reference to the seeming lack of new innovations in the latest iPhones. Then, Huawei teased its upcoming Mate 20 smartphone that will be powered by the new Kirin 980 chipset.
Huawei Mate 20 Launch Date
The Huawei Mate 20 and its bigger sibling, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro are scheduled for a launching event on October 16, 2018, in London.
I’m excited for what Huawei has to offer in the new smartphones given the fact that the company made the first triple camera system on a smartphone in the Huawei P20 Pro.
The phrase ‘beyond intelligent’ might mean new applications for A.I. and machine learning. Huawei has already introduced several useful A.I. features in photography, battery management, and smartphone performance.
The new Kirin 980 will enable more of these technologies since it comes with a dual Neural Processing Unit or NPU. The company claims that the chip can recognize up to 4,500 images in a minute!
I’ll post more details about the Huawei Mate 20 on October 16.
