The successor to OnePlus One which was dubbed as the flagship killer with its high-end specs but low price has been officially launched – the OnePlus 2.

It still has an improved 5.5-inch full HD display, faster Snapdragon 810 processor, more RAM at 4GB, better cameras and Android 5.1 Lollipop with Oxygen OS on top.

The OnePlus 2 uses alloys of Magnesium and Aluminum for its outer frame, stainless steel buttons and a layer scratch resistant Gorilla Glass to protect its screen. A dedicated button called Alert Slider changes the notification preference.

Its screen is of the same size and resolution as that of the OnePlus One but with better color reproduction and contrast. Above that is a 5MP selfie camera.

At the back is a 13MP camera with large 1.3µm pixels on the image sensor, 6-lens system, f/2.0 aperture, dual LED flash and laser focus. Videos should be steady enough since it has optical image stabilization.

The octa core Snapdragon 810 chipset runs the show on the OnePlus 2 but the company says users should not fear overheating because they’ve worked with Qualcomm to solve this problem.

Making multi-tasking and hard core games smooth is its 4GB of RAM, Adreno 430 graphics processor and Android Lollipop operating system.

Storage options start at 16GB for the cheapest model (but with only 3GB RAM) and 64GB for the pricier one. OSB OTG is of course, supported. Take note that it uses reversible USB Type-C!

The OnePlus 2 has two nano SIM card slots that can both connect to 4G LTE networks. There’s also dual band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1.

Its home button has an embedded finger print sensor while the other capacitive buttons are not seen when the screen turns off. It also has a compass, gyroscope and downward facing loudspeakers.

Out of the box, you’ll get a sandstone black OnePlue 2 but additional you can change its back cover to bamboo, rosewood, apricot or Kevlar.

Invites are needed to purchase the OnePlus 2 which can be obtained from friends who’ve already purchased the device and the company’s contests. They assured that invites will be easier to get due to a large volume of supply.

Price for the 16GB model is $329 which is around ₱15,000 only while the 64GB model costs $389 or almost ₱18,000. Gray market sellers might offer this phone here in the Philippines at slightly higher prices.
