Spiced Up Ultra!
Finally, Cherry Mobile offers an LTE capable smartphone that people actually want – the Cherry Mobile Ultra.
Aside from being a quad core and LTE smartphone, a promised Android 4.4 Kitkat software update adds a spice to this Cherry Mobile phone.
Cherry Mobile Ultra Design and Display
Cherry Mobile Ultra features a 5 inch high definition screen with an IPS panel that maintains the high quality graphics even if viewed from an angle.
The front is fully laminated but lacks a scratch resistant layer*. When flipped, you’ll notice that it’s very slim – just 8.95mm at its thickest with curved edges for a better grip.
You’ll also like the matte back cover but the large bezels on the front might disappoint some.
Cherry Mobile Ultra Performance
Unlike most locally branded quad core smartphones, Cherry Mobile Ultra runs using a Snapdragon 400 processor with an Adreno 305 for graphics rendering.
This combination promises very good performance with 17,000 Antutu score and excellent 3D graphics.
It has the usual 1GB of RAM but with ample on board storage space of 8GB. You can still add more using a 32GB micro SD card if that’s not enough.
Cherry Mobile Ultra Camera
Once again, Cherry Mobile might have used software interpolation to ramp up the resolution of Cherry Mobile Ultra’s camera. Its OEM lists 8 Megapixels as the resolution of its main camera but Cherry Mobile Ultra has a 13MP one.
Cherry Mobile might have ordered a version with better camera but we highly doubt that.
Anyway, it still has a BSI sensor so photos and videos will surely look good. Just don’t compare it with premium phones with 13MP snappers as it will be a shame.

Cherry Mobile Ultra is compatible with the LTE networks of Smart and Globe. However, there’s only a single SIM slot so you’ll have to choose which network to use.
If LTE is not available, you can always use 3G for mobile internet or connect to a Wi-Fi network.
USB-OTG seems absent but Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP and GPS with GLONASS are good bargains.
