HONOR 400 5G Gaming Review with FPS and Temperature Measurements

by Daniel Gubalane on Jun 28, 2025

The headline feature of the HONOR 400 5G is its AI-enhanced photography but this smartphone also has powerful hardware and software for gaming.

I tested its gaming performance by playing popular games including Call of Duty Mobile (CODM), Mobile Legends (ML), Genshin Impact, and PUBG Mobile. Then, I measured the average framerate or FPS of these games and temperature.

HONOR 400 5G Game Manager

The HONOR 400 5G is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset with 12GB of physical RAM, and another 12GB of virtual RAM.

In terms of software, the device runs on Android 15 OS with MagicOS 9.0. There’s a Game Manager app that provides quick access to gaming features by swiping from the sidebar.

It also has the GPU Turbo X technology which improves graphics rendering compared to a hardware solution alone.

HONOR 400 5G Gaming FPS Test Results

Game & GraphicsAve. Framerate
Mobile Legends (Ultra)117 fps
CODM (High)90 fps
PUBG (HD)60 fps
Genshin Impact (High)52 fps

These were the results of my framerate measurements during several gaming sessions with the HONOR 400 5G.

It almost reached the 120 fps cap in Mobile Legends (117 fps) and easily hits the 90 fps and 60 fps limits in CODM and PUBG Mobile. These games all ran smoothly and I thoroughly enjoyed the overall gaming experience.

Genshin Impact is still a tough game to crack with the device managing a decent 52 fps of average framerate. Still, even flagship smartphones struggle with this one.

Temperature

While playing Mobile Legends and CODM in an airconditioned room, the measured temperature of the HONOR 400 5G barely reached 39°C.

Outdoors in a shaded area just after 1 PM, the measured temperature slightly increased to 42°C. It feels warm but still comfortable to hold. Add the FREE phone case and I barely felt the difference.

Looking at its performance over time, there’s no sharp decline in fps which means no throttling due to heat buildup.

HONOR 400 5G Gaming Review Conclusion

The HONOR 400 5G is a very capable smartphone in terms of gaming performance. It can run popular games smoothly at High or Ultra graphics quality.

It only warms up a little during prolonged gaming sessions which means it has good thermal regulation. Resource-intensive games such as Genshin Impact will push the device to its limits though and experience some frame drops.

Nevertheless, I highly recommend the HONOR 400 5G for hardcore gamers of MOBA and FPS battle royale games.
