realme 14 5G gaming review
The realme 14 5G features a Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset, 12GB of RAM, GT Mode performance enhancement, and a mecha-inspired design.
For this gaming review, I tested the device with popular titles such as Mobile Legends, Call of Duty Mobile, Asphalt Legends, and Genshin Impact. During gameplay, I recorded the average framerate (FPS) and monitored temperature levels.
Since the device supports GT Mode, I conducted the tests twice: once with GT Mode enabled and once with it turned off.
Game | Ave. Framerate | Temperature |
---|---|---|
Mobile Legends | 74.6 FPS | 35 °C |
Asphalt Legends | 59.2 FPS | 35 °C |
Call of Duty | 86.9 FPS | 38 °C |
Genshin Impact | 45.1 FPS | 38 °C |
The realme 14 5G delivered good results in the FPS tests. Games were running smoothly even at the default performance setting.
Asphalt Legends isn’t very demanding, so I was more impressed with its performance in Mobile Legends and Call of Duty. I played several ranked matches in ML and battle royale games in COD.
If these are your preferred games, or if you play similar titles such as Honor of Kings and PUBG Mobile, I’m sure you’ll enjoy gaming on the realme 14 5G.
More resource-intensive games like Genshin Impact prove to be more challenging for the device. It achieved a decent 45.1 FPS result, but this game requires flagship chipsets to approach 60 FPS. It’s still playable, though, with some lags and hiccups along the way.
All of these games were set to the highest graphics quality except for Call of Duty. When I enabled Ultra framerate, the game automatically set the graphics quality to Low. Otherwise, the framerate is capped at 60 FPS, which the device handles with ease.
Game | Ave. Framerate | Temperature |
---|---|---|
Mobile Legends | 116.5 FPS | 38 °C |
Asphalt Legends | 60.0 FPS | 38 °C |
Call of Duty | 87.3 FPS | 41 °C |
Genshin Impact | 48.0 FPS | 40 °C |
GT Mode enhances the phone’s performance, as evidenced by the higher framerates I recorded above.
The most impressive results came from Mobile Legends, as GT Mode unlocks the game’s 120 FPS mode. At the same time, it helps maintain the temperature, possibly due to the phone’s large vapor chamber. When GT Mode is disabled, the game’s maximum framerate is 90 FPS, which is already high and smooth.
Other games also exhibit increased smoothness, though not as significantly as Mobile Legends. However, I did notice higher temperatures.
Looking at the detailed results, there is a sharp decline in performance after several minutes of using GT Mode. This could be due to thermal throttling caused by the elevated temperatures.
Before concluding this review, let’s take a look at some of the gaming features of the realme 14 5G.
Its gaming panel can be accessed with a swipe from the left side while playing. This is where GT Mode can be easily enabled or disabled.
Below these modes, you’ll find media and brightness controls. There’s also game focus mode, which blocks notifications and calls so you can concentrate on what matters most: winning the match!
The Breathing Light effect illuminates the decorative LED at the back when you score a kill in ML or HOK. I wish it were brighter or had a more refined design instead of just a circular LED.
There are plenty more features, but perhaps the most useful is Geek Power Tuning. Here, you can manually adjust the CPU and GPU speeds. Of course, maxing out these settings enhances performance but also raises temperature levels.
There’s also Bypass mode for charging, screen recording, voice changer, AI eye comfort, and more.
After thoroughly testing the gaming performance of the realme 14 5G, I give it a thumbs up! I recommend this device for gamers, especially those who enjoy MOBA titles like Mobile Legends and Honor of Kings.
The realme 14 5G is optimized for these games, delivering smooth performance at the highest graphics settings and enhanced gameplay when GT Mode is enabled, all while maintaining good thermal control.
It also performs well in more resource-intensive games like COD and Genshin Impact, though with a 60 FPS cap and occasional lags, respectively. GT Mode helps improve performance but requires additional cooling solutions for these demanding titles.
Beyond its smooth gaming experience, the realme 14 5G features several useful gaming enhancements and a design inspired by mecha aesthetics.
While there are a few competitors in this price range with slightly better chipsets, the realme 14 5G offers more polished software and a better overall package
