OnePlus Nord 2T Gaming Review with FPS Tests (ML, COD, Genshin Impact)

The OnePlus Nord 2T is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1300 chipset with 8GB of RAM, up to 5GB of RAM expansion, and Android 12-based OxygenOS 12.1 software.

I tested its gaming performance by playing Mobile Legends, Call of Duty Mobile, and Genshin Impact. The gaming experience is quantified by measuring the average framerate of these games using GameBench Pro.

 

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

Mobile Legends is set at High graphics quality by default on the OnePlus Nord 2T but the Ultra option is also available.

After a ranked match with the default setting, GameBench Pro measured an average framerate of 59 fps. That’s just a point below the perfect 60 fps!

The game felt smooth and lag-free. There were a few frame drops during clashes but nothing drastic. It can be used for a competitive match.

 

Call of Duty Mobile

The OnePlus Nord 2T can run Call of Duty Mobile up to VERY HIGH graphics quality. Just like in Mobile Legends, I chose to perform the test at HIGH graphics quality so it’s easy to compare its performance with previous smartphones I’ve tested.

The resulting average framerate is a perfect 60 fps!

It’s a good smartphone for playing CODM thanks to a smooth performance and a stereo speaker setup. Audio cues of enemy position are available even without using earphones.

 

Genshin Impact

I was surprised to find out that the default graphics quality of Genshin Impact on the OnePlus Nord 2T is MEDIUM. Other mid-range smartphones usually set this to LOW only.

It achieved an average framerate of 43 fps.

This is already a decent performance for such a resource-intensive game. There are frame drops and jankiness but it’s playable.

 

Gaming Software and Thermal Management

The OnePlus Nord 2T has a gaming sidebar accessible by swiping from the upper corners of the display during games.

It has quick shortcuts for notification sizes, performance modes, screen recording, and other useful features. There’s also support for floating chat windows during games.

In terms of thermal management, the OnePlus Nord 2T remained comfortable to hold while playing Mobile Legends and Call of Duty Mobile. It became warm while playing Genshin Impact though.

 

Conclusion

The OnePlus Nord 2T is a good gaming smartphone. It can run popular games like Mobile Legends and Call of Duty Mobile at high graphics quality smoothly.

It can also run more resource-intensive games like Genshin Impact at medium graphics quality but at a slightly warmer temperature.
