The Huawei Y7a smartphone is powered by a Kirin 710a chipset with 4GB of RAM and features a large 6.67-inch display perfect for playing games.

I tested its gaming performance by playing some of the most popular mobile games and measuring the average frame rate using GameBench Pro. The games tested include Mobile Legends, PUBG Mobile, and Asphalt 9.

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang

Mobile Legends supports up to High graphics quality on the Huawei Y7a. I also turned-on the High Framerate Mode or HFR during the test.

After several minutes of playing, GameBench Pro measured an average frame rate of a perfect 60 fps! This is the highest frame rate currently available for this game and the device got a perfect record.

The game felt very, very smooth with virtually no janks. There are occasional stutters during team fights but it’s manageable.

PUBG Mobile

PUBG Mobile is a more resource-intensive game. The Huawei Y7a supports up to HD graphics quality and High frame rate preset. Hence, it’s capped by the game at 30 fps.

I played a single match and the reported average frame rate is exactly 30 fps. Smartphones that support Extreme and Ultra frame rate preset can achieve higher scores.

It still felt smooth and enjoyable but janks can occur during clashes when there are too many players in the scene.

Asphalt 9

Just like PUBG Mobile, Asphalt 9: Legends also limits its maximum frame rate available is 30 fps only on the Huawei Y7a.

The device easily achieved 30 fps according to measurements by GameBench Pro.

Of course, the game looked awesome with its particle effects and updated graphics. Flagship smartphones like the Huawei Mate 40 can achieve 60 fps which looks way smoother.

Game Installation and Compatibility

Installing games on the Huawei Y7a is now easier thanks to the Huawei Petal Search. It’s pre-installed as a search bar on the home screen.

Apps that are available on the Huawei AppGallery can be installed in one tap on Petal Search. Those that are not on the AppGallery can still be installed in 2 to 3 taps from various trusted sources.

In my previous gaming reviews, the usual games include Call of Duty and NBA 2K20. However, those games are incompatible with the Huawei Y7a. Thankfully, Petal Search marks incompatible games saving the user time and data.

The Huawei Y7a is capable of running popular games smoothly at Medium to High graphics quality with minimal lagging during team fights.

It achieved a perfect 60 fps on Mobile Legends and limited to 30 fps on both PUBG Mobile and Asphalt 9. This performance is similar to mid-range smartphones with slightly higher price tags.

However, there are several games that are not compatible with the device. Some of the most popular ones are Call of Duty Mobile and NBA 2K20.
