An official image of the upcoming iPhone XS smartphones has leaked as shared by 9to5Mac.

It shows the 5.8-inch iPhone XS in gold and the larger 6.5-inch iPhone XS in the same color. It also confirms that the new iPhones have a similar design to the iPhone X and majority of the changes are in the specs.

iPhone XS Naming Scheme

Rumors suggest that Apple will call both the 5.8-inch and 6.5-inch models as iPhone XS. This will be similar to how the company names the iPads.

However, this might become a source of confusion among customers who are used to calling the larger device as a ‘Plus’ just like the iPhone 8 Plus.

Thankfully, the specs, features and price will clearly distinguish the two iPhone XS models.

5.8-inch iPhone XS

The 5.8-inch iPhone XS will feature a 5.8-inch OLED edge-to-edge display with a resolution of 1125 x 2436 pixels. It will also have a dual 12 Megapixel rear camera system and a FaceID camera on the front.

It will be powered by the new Apple A12 chipset with 4GB of RAM and the iOS operating system. Storage options are 64GB, 128GB and 512GB.

A two cell L-shaped battery will power the device with a total of up to 2800mAh battery capacity.

6.5-inch iPhone XS

The 6.5-inch Phone XS is basically the Plus version of the previous model. It has a larger display with the same technology and a resolution of 1242 x 2688 pixels while the cameras are exactly the same.

It uses the same chipset and amount of RAM but with a dual SIM option. If true, this will be the first iPhone to support dual SIM functionality.

Lastly, it will be powered by a larger 3400mAh battery with the same two-cell configuration.

Launch Date and Third 2018 iPhone

Apple will officially unveil the two iPhone XS smartphones on September 12. A third iPhone will also be announced. This will be the most affordable model but with an LCD display instead of OLED.

Prices are rumored to start at $600 for the LCD iPhone and up to $1000 for the 6.5-inch iPhone XS.
