Apple Unveils iPad Pro with 12.9-Inch Display, Stylus Support and Powerful Specs
During its Special Event on September 9, 2015, Apple Inc. unveiled its biggest and most powerful tablet yet – the Apple iPad Pro.
It has a 12.9-inch display that supports stylus input and boasts “desktop class performance”, “console class GPU” and a focus on productivity. It even has a physical Keyboard case and side-by-side app mode for multi-tasking!
The Apple iPad Pro’s 12.9-inch display packs a resolution of 2048 x 2738 pixels or 264 ppi while the stylus is called Apple Pencil and can sense pressure, tilt and stroke.
It runs on a new A9X chipset with 64-bit CPUs but the specific speed, amount of RAM and GPU have not been revealed. The company claims that it’s faster than 90% of all portable PCs released in 2015 though.
Demos of the device running AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and 3D Medical have been shown.
The Apple iPad Pro has dual band Wi-Fi and optional 4G LTE connectivity with a maximum speed of 150Mbps. There’s also an 8MP iSight camera, TouchID finger print sensor, four loudspeakers and a 10-hour battery life.
It’s official international price starts at $799 for the Wi-Fi only 32GB version, $949 for the 128GB Wi-Fi only version and $1079 for the 128GB with 4G LTE version.
The Apple Pencil costs $99 while the Keyboard case is $169. All will be available in November.
