A lot of us are looking for a cheap laptop since tablets and smartphones are way behind in terms of productivity. Hence, the newly announced Lenovo IdeaPad 100 is worth checking out.

It’s a $249 laptop (around ₱11,100 when converted) that comes in 14 and 15-inch screen variants with up to 500GB of storage space and an Intel BayTrail-M processor which is better than sluggish Intel Celeron chips.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 100 runs on Windows 8.1 and is ideal for essential laptop tasks such as browsing the internet, creating documents or presentations, watching movies and playing casual games.

It’s not for hardcore gamers though as it only has an integrated Intel Graphics card. Nevertheless, its RAM can be upgraded up to 8GB if the user wishes.

Lenovo IdeaPad 100 side ports

Both the 14 and 15-inch variants have a screen resolution of 1366 x 768 Pixels. There are also standard ports including a USB 3.0 port, another USB 2.0, HDMI and card reader.

However, battery life is estimated at around 4 hours only when used to watch a movie. It’s not very light too at almost 2 kilograms (14-inch version).

If you’re willing to live with its inconveniences, the Lenovo IdeaPad 100 will be available starting next month, June 2015. Hopefully, it will make its way to the Philippines by July so teachers and students can purchase one.
