Microsoft revealed in a blog post that Windows 10 will have deeper integration with iPhones and Android phones using a dedicated Cortana app for the two operating systems.

Cortana on iPhones and Android phones can do most of the tasks that it does on Windows 10 and Windows Mobile such as setting reminders and tracking flight schedules. However, it won’t be able to toggle system settings, launch other apps or be always awake for the “Hey, Cortana” key phrase.

Microsoft’s VP for Operating Systems, Joe Belfiore, wrote, “…for people who don’t have the benefit of a Windows phone, we want to extend the advantage of Cortana in Windows 10.”

The things that you do with Cortana on your Windows 10 PC will be synced to the app version on your iPhone or Android phone.

A dedicated app called Phone Companion for Windows 10 is required to install Cortana on your phone. Some Microsoft apps are also a pre-requisite such as OneDrive.

Windows 10 will be released before the year 2015 ends. You can join the Windows Insider Program to try an early version of Microsoft’s new OS.
