Isn’t Excalibur a cool name? Well, Cherry Mobile thinks so and they used it as the name of their octa core smartphone that boasts a camera from Sony and with scratch resistant front and back panels.
The Cherry Mobile Excalibur even has metallic decorative pieces and a SIM card tray made out of Magnesium giving it a premium build quality. However, it still has issues given its ₱6,999 price – a mere 1,920mAh non-removable battery.
Instead of the usual 1.7GHz MT6592 chipset, the Cherry Mobile Excalibur uses the slightly slower 1.4GHz octa core MT6592M processor from MediaTek. This is coupled with 1GB of RAM and a Mali-450 MP GPU which will give you a very smooth Android 4.4 Kitkat experience.
Cherry Mobile Excalibur flaunts a 5-inch HD IPS display protected by a scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass layer. This model actually appears like something from brands like Sony or HTC with its Gorilla Glass topped rear panel!
There’s also its 8MP main camera with a Sony IMX179 BSI sensor making it very promising for taking photos in bright and low light. There’s another 5MP camera on the front for your selfies.
The Cherry Mobile Excalibur comes with 8GB of onboard storage space with a slot for up to a 32GB microSD card.
It has two 3G capable micro SIM slots and has all the usual connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and FM Radio.
The biggest issue with the Cherry Mobile Excalibur is its non-removable battery with only 1,920mAh capacity. This will force you to re-charge the unit more often and probably equip yourself with a powerbank.
