Flagship smartphones from our local brands will soon flaunt a 64-bit processor with LTE, 2K display and an amazing clock speed of 2.2 GHz using the MT6795 chipset from MediaTek!

This means very smooth performance even in hard core games, ultra-fast mobile internet (theoretically – blame our crappy telcos) and super clear graphics with resolutions of up to 2560 x 1600 Pixels.

MediaTek Chipset

MediaTek said that the first devices running on MT6795 will be commercially available by the end of 2014. That means we our local players might introduce one such device in the first quarter of 2015.

The MT6795 also opens up the possibility of using 4GB of RAM or more and take advantage of the 64-bit support of the Android L. I can only imagine the smoothness of these devices!

Other features include improved touchscreen input responses, hardware support for 480fps slow motion and ultra HD video, wireless charging and all the usual wireless connectivity features.

MediaTek also has the 64-bit octa core MT6752 chipset with a slightly slower clock speed of 2.0GHz and a 64-bit quad core MT6732 chipset aimed for entry level devices.
