Tech Companies Help Super Typhoon Yolanda Survivors

First Update Since the Super Typhoon

If you were following this blog, you’d notice that there was no update since November 8 – the fateful day when typhoon Yolanda hit the Philippines. That’s because I live in Ormoc City which is one of the badly affected places in Leyte.

Thankfully, several tech companies provided help to us. If not for Globe Telecom, I won’t be able to post this. They installed three free charging stations in Ormoc City which are constantly full of people juicing up their phones, flash lights and other gadgets.

Other tech companies that helped included Smart Telecommunications with their free call and charging station, Cherry Mobile that distributed some relief goods in Samar and MyPhone with their benefit concert called One Heart, One Beat, One Voice.

By the way, I’m fine. We suffered major damage of our house but we already fixed the main part of it. We’ve also received some relief goods from DSWD and other private organizations.

My main problem now is the black out of the whole region 8! The authorities said that their target is to restore the electric power by the first week of December. That’s from the geothermal plant up to the city of Ormoc only.

See you then… 🙂
