Xiaomi Mi Note 2 Unveiled; Flexible Dual-Edge Curved Display, 6GB RAM, 22.56MP Camera
During its “Curved to Impress” event in Beijing, Xiaomi unveiled the Mi Note 2 that looks like the perfect alternative to the ill-fated Galaxy Note7.
It’s got the dual-edge curved display thanks to a flexible OLED panel; powerful hardware including a Snapdragon 821 chip and a whooping 6GB of RAM; and a 22.56MP camera with image stabilization.
Display and Photography
The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 has an aluminum frame and dual-edge curved glass for both the front and back panels. The display itself just follows the curvature of the front panel glass since it’s flexible!
Its main camera is sourced from Sony and uses the phone’s 3-axis gyroscope to provide image stabilization. On the front is an 8 MP selfie shooter that, unlike most flagship smartphones, has autofocus ensuring clear and crisp self-portraits.

Performance and Storage
The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box but it has the company’s signature MIUI Android skin on top. It drastically changes Android’s interface to look more like Apple’s iOS but with lots and lots of additional features that are actually useful.
Running the show is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 chip with a maximum speed of 2.35GHz aided by an Adreno 530 graphics processor and 6GB of RAM.
There’s 128GB of built-in storage but there’s no mention of microSD expansion. A cheaper variant with 64GB of storage and only 4GB of RAM is also available.
Connectivity and Battery
For connectivity, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 boasts global 4G LTE support as well as carrier aggregation for even faster mobile internet speeds than most of today’s smartphones. It also has high-precision GPS, NFC, an infrared port, USB Type-C and dual band Wi-Fi.
It’s powered by a 4070mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0. That means it can get more than 80% battery capacity in just 30 minutes of charging.
Price and Availability
The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 comes in two colors – Piano Black and Glacier Silver. Chinese Mi fans can get wither the 6GB RAM or 4GB RAM version depending on their budget while other countries will get the global version with 6GB of RAM.
The official price for the Global Version of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is 3499 CNY which converts to around ₱25,000. Since Xiaomi doesn’t have an official presence in the Philippines anymore, third-party retailers will be the ones to bring it here in the country.
