vivo V50 Lite 5G REVIEW: Battery Life Champ!

by Daniel Gubalane on May 01, 2025

The vivo V50 Lite 5G stands out with its massive 6500mAh battery. It scored an impressive 21 hours and 46 minutes in our PCMark battery life test. Despite the massive battery, it remains slim at 7.79mm and includes a 90W fast charger in the box.

Beyond its excellent battery performance, I evaluated its display, performance, cameras, connectivity, and software to see how it performs overall. Here’s my full review of the vivo V50 Lite 5G:

vivo V50 Lite 5G Key Features:

– 6.67” FHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate
– 50MP + 8MP dual rear cameras with Aura Light
– MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor with 8GB or 12GB of RAM
– 6500mAh battery with 90W fast charging
– IP65 dust & water resistance

Design and Build Quality

Water-resistant vivo V50 Lite

The thickness of the vivo V50 Lite compared with four 10-Peso coins.

Even with its large battery, the vivo V50 Lite 5G remains one of the thinnest smartphones in its price range. Its flat and boxy design features a horizontal camera island and vivo’s signature Aura Light LED flash.

The solid build feels reassuring, with no creaks even when held firmly. It also has a premium appeal with its glossy sides although it’s also a fingerprint magnet. Thankfully, the matte back panel do not usually retain smudges.

There are three color choices. I have the Titanium Gold which looks classy while Fantasy Purple looks more chic and Fantasy Black has a mysterious vibe.

It has IP65 splash resistance and “military-grade” shock resistance so it should survive occasional drops and fresh water splashes or spills.

Display and Audio

The 6.77-inch AMOLED display delivers sharp, vibrant colors and remains bright even outdoors. It has 1800 nits of peak brightness but there’s no HDR support for Netflix.

Users can customize color saturation and temperature to suit their preferences. The 120Hz refresh rate also keeps visuals smooth when scrolling or browsing.

Its flat design and narrow bezels create a modern look that enhances immersion. On the audio front, stereo speakers produce loud output, with the volume boost reaching up to 400%. While this is useful in noisy environments, sound quality becomes noticeably tinny at higher levels.

Camera Performance

The vivo V50 Lite 5G is equipped with a 50 Megapixel main camera at the back that uses the Sony IMX882 image sensor. It also has an 8 Megapixel ultrawide camera, Aura Light flash, and a 32MP selfie camera.

The main camera performs well in good lighting situations resulting in bright and detailed photos. Portrait mode defaults to 2x zoom which reduces lens distortion and makes pictures of people look more pleasing with various bokeh effects.

Here are some sample pictures:

The 8MP ultrawide camera offers a broad field of view of 120˚ but tends to lose sharpness and become slightly grainy. The last picture above is a sample from the ultrawide camera.

In low-light scenarios, the resulting pictures tend to become slightly grainy. There’s a dedicated Night mode which brightens scenes effectively with a few seconds of automatic processing. Although images sometimes look over-processed with a painting-like aesthetics. The Aura Light flash makes more difference in improving clarity and details in night shots.

There’s an AI Erase tool in the phone’s Gallery app that works impressively well. It intelligently removes unwanted objects and seamlessly blends the image using AI. The last two images above show the AI Erase feature.

Selfies turn out vibrant and detailed making it ideal for social media snaps. Video recording using the selfie camera is limited to 1080p resolution at 30 fps though so no extra crispy nor smooth videos.

Meanwhile, the rear cameras can record at 1080p resolution and 60 fps. There’s also basic electronic image stabilization providing some shake reduction.

Performance and Storage

Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor, the vivo V50 Lite 5G offers responsive performance with options for 8GB or 12GB of RAM.

Scoring over 421,000+ points on Antutu benchmark, the device handles everyday tasks smoothly. Apps open quickly, and scrolling through social media is fluid. There are occasional lags and stutters though especially when abruptly switching from one app to another.

Gaming performance is decent, with Mobile Legends running well, though Call of Duty experiences occasional lag. The screenshots above are the default graphics quality of these two games. It’s enough for casual games but hard-core players will certainly want more.

With either 256GB or 512GB of built-in storage, there’s plenty of space for apps, photos, and videos. However, the absence of a microSD card slot means users looking for expandable storage will need to rely on cloud services.

Connectivity and Security

The vivo V50 Lite 5G supports faster mobile internet speeds compared to the standard V50 Lite, though vivo markets them under the same name. Dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth, and GPS work reliably without any connectivity issues.

Unlocking the phone is convenient with an under-display fingerprint scanner, positioned near the bottom of the screen. While it functions well, reaching it may require a stretch. Face unlock provides a quicker alternative, making everyday use more seamless.

Battery Life and Charging

Battery life test results of the vivo V50 Lite.

The vivo V50 Lite 5G truly excels in battery life, lasting up to two days on a single charge under typical usage. It recorded an impressive 21 hours and 46 minutes in our battery test. That’s a testament to its 6500mAh BlueVolt battery which utilizes Silicon-Carbon anode technology.

Gaming endurance is impressive too, providing about 10 to 11 hours of continuous playtime for Mobile Legends.

Charging speeds are faster than expected, with the bundled 90W fast charger refueling the device to 100% in about an hour. That’s remarkably quick considering the battery capacity.

Price, Availability, and Recommendation

The vivo V50 Lite 5G is priced at ₱16,999 for the 256GB version and ₱19,999 for the 512GB version.

Considering my experience in this review, I can recommend the 256GB version of the phone. It’s a fair price for the impressive battery life, fast charging, good build quality, decent display, and capable cameras.

The 512GB version is asking too much for the phone’s performance though. For that price, I’d rather look at the vivo V40 5G which is a higher tier of the series’ previous generation.

Nevertheless, it offers a unique value among users who need a smartphone with long-lasting battery. The vivo V50 Lite 5G is indeed a battery champ!
