My wife and I recently joined a 3-day Ilocos tour and brought the Huawei P30 Pro smartphone to take pictures and videos.

Here are several sample pictures shot using the Huawei P30 Pro featuring Vigan City, Laoag, and Pagudpud in the Ilocos Region. Enjoy!

Let’s start with this normal shot of the famous Calle Crisologo. Notice the crisp details, vibrant colors and clearly visible shadow areas. Most pictures shot by the Huawei P30 Pro during daylight will end up this good.

Next is an ultra-wide sample picture. This is still in Calle Crisologo in Vigan City with me and my wife.

The ultra-wide function in the Huawei P30 Pro’s camera shows a lot more of the scenery with similar quality to the regular camera mode. However, you’ll notice the slight stretching or distortion at the edges of the image.

This one was shot using the Huawei P30 Pro’s Portrait Mode. It tries to mimic the depth of field of bigger cameras resulting in blurred backgrounds while the subject is in perfect focus.

Let’s move on to another location – the Paoay Church. This photo demonstrates the incredible details captured by the Huawei P30 Pro of the buttresses on the side of the church.

The following are pictures of the church at different zoom levels.

As you can see, the Huawei P30 Pro can take great pictures up to 10x zoom. It can still go further up to 50x zoom but the image quality starts to degrade.

Before leaving Laoag, here’s a photo of a 4×4 at the Culili Point Sand Dunes.

This is another picture shot with the Huawei P30 Pro’s Portrait Mode. Notice how the camera’s software smartly kept me and the rock in sharp focus, then those people on the lower left corner are a bit blurry and the windmills in the background more blurry.

Here’s a better look at the windmills. We had a lot of fun here because of the huge waves that wash up on the beach.

This sample picture clearly shows that the ultra-wide camera of the Huawei P30 Pro is better for taking pictures of landscapes such as this cave/rock formation. The only drawback is, it makes people look stretched out.

If I did not use ultra-wide to take this picture, I would have only captured a little bit of the rock and the sea and it won’t look as great as this.

Lastly, this is a picture of a beach in Pagudpud. The weather wasn’t great but the Huawei P30 Pro still managed to snap a picture with great quality.
