At last, Microsoft has made Windows 10 available to download for anyone without any charges as long as their PCs are currently running on Windows 7 or 8.

Windows 10 combines the modern look of the touch-centric Windows 8 and the familiarity of Windows 7. With the help of thousands of beta testers from the Windows Insider program, it’s hailed as the best Windows ever!

If you haven’t received the prompt yet that your Windows 10 upgrade is ready, follow these steps:

1. Open Windows Update and set it to update automatically.

2. Go to C:WindowsSoftwareDistributionDownload and delete all of its contents.

3. Search for ‘cmd’ then right click and choose Run as administrator. Type wuauclt.exe /updatenow and hit enter.

The upgrade is a bit huge. It’s a whole new operating system after all. More than 3GB of files will be downloaded in the background so you should be on a fast internet connection or wait days for it to complete.

Once you’ve successfully upgraded to Windows 10, you’ll be able to enjoy some of its new features such as the voice assistant Cortana, resurrected Start Menu, Multiple Desktops and the Microsoft Edge browser.
