The Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized one hundred units of the new Nokia 3310 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on May 1, 2017.

 

Illegal Importation

The Chinese national who brought the box of phones failed to reveal the contents and present the proper importation documents. This is in violation of a memorandum circular from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act or RA4712.

According to the bureau, the phones and accessories has an estimated total amount of ₱400,000.00.

 

About the New Nokia 3310

The Nokia 3310 (2017) is a re-imagination of the classic Nokia 3310 cellphone. It has a similar design but with modern features such as a color display, Bluetooth and multi-media functions.

It’s set for an official release here in the Philippines before the end of June 2017. The local pricing hasn’t been revealed but it should be around ₱3000.
