Following the Zenfone 2 with 4GB of RAM, ASUS has officially brought the ZenPad S 8.0 here in the Philippines packing the same amount of RAM and a 2K display.

It’s an 8-inch tablet that focuses on both performance and aesthetics. In other words, it looks good and performs like a beast! You can take it to a corporate meeting or immerse yourself in a hardcore game.

A layer of scratch resistant Corning Gorilla Glass covers the fully laminated screen of the ASUS ZenPad S 8.0. It supports pen input with a dedicated stylus called Z Stylus.

Using several hardware and software tweaks collectively called ASUS VisualMaster, the company boasts a vastly improved display quality for the ZenPads.

It’s also a very thin tablet measuring at only 6.6 mm and has its screen almost occupy the entire front panel with a screen to body ratio of 74%. At the back are what ASUS calls “metallic finish with exquisite diamond hairline pattern”.

In terms of performance, the ASUS ZenPad S 8.0 runs on an Intel Atom Z3580 processor with four CPU cores capable of up to 2.33GHz burst frequency. It also employs HyperThreading technology doubling its processing power and a PowerVR G6430 chip for graphics rendering.

There’s a large amount of built-in storage at 64GB that can even be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. USB OTG is supported too but take note that it uses a USB Type-C port.

Gamers and those who will watch movies on this tablet will be amazed by its pair of front-facing speakers. DTS-HD further enhances the audio output at the software level.

The ASUS ZenPad S 8.0 has an 8MP camera at the back and 5MP snapper on the front. These should be enough for taking selfies, making video calls and taking occasional snaps.

It’s a Wi-Fi only tablet though so there are no SIM card slots and you can only send messages using chat apps. It does support wireless display, Bluetooth and GPS.

It will be available here in the Philippine by mid-August for an official price of ₱16,995. That’s not cheap but still a very good deal considering its features.
