Lenovo P780: Specs and Price - 5" Quad Core with 4,000 mAh Battery Android Phone

"Burning out is not an option" -Lenovo

If you like a quad core Android phone with a very high battery capacity, Lenovo P780 is the perfect phone for you.

Just like other phones under the P series like the P770 with high capacity battery, Lenovo's latest quad core offering packs a 4,000 mAh Lithium Polymer battery that can last up to 36 hours of continuous call. That's a day and a half!

Here's how Lenovo P780 looks like

Lenovo P780: Processor, Memory and Battery

Lenovo P780 is NOT just another Android phone with a single great feature. It's powered by a 1.2GHz quad core MT6589W processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. Add to that a PowerVR SGX544 graphics processor and you have a very powerful phone to run Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1 and whatever app or game you throw at it.

Sadly though, Lenovo P780 only has 4GB of internal storage. But you can use a microSD card to expand its memory up to 32 GB.

Now, here comes the battery - a 4,000 mAh Lithium Polymer powerhouse that's worth mentioning 3 times in this article. Most Android phones suffer from battery problems. Some have very low capacity while others just require more power to run smoothly thus draining their batteries.

According to Lenovo, P780's battery can last up to 24 hours of continuous 3G call, 43 hours of 2G call or 35 days on standby. You can even attach another device to it via USB OTG and it will recharge the connected device!

Lenovo P780: Design, Display and Camera

Even if Lenovo P780 is a phone for practical users, hence the "P", it still has a metallic body that makes it more durable and feel very premium.

The display is a high definition IPS capacitive touch screen with 294 pixels per inch. With this resolution, the display looks amazing and videos are just gorgeous. It doesn't have a protective layer though - you'll need to attach a screen protector to prevent scratches.

The back camera of Lenovo P780 takes high quality pictures even though it's just equipped with an 8MP sensor. O the other side, the VGA front camera is a set back.

Lenovo P780 Connectivity Features

There are two sim slots in Lenovo P780 but only SIM1 can connect to 3G networks. That's not really a problem since most users prefer to use data connectivity with one sim only.

You can connect the Lenovo P780 to WiFi networks and also make it into a mobile WiFi hotspot if you have 3G internet connection.

Bluetooth comes in version 3.0. GPS with A-GPS is also present but is takes time to find your location.

Lenovo P780 also has USB on the go (OTG) function that let's you connect mouse, keyboard, game controllers and USB flash drives to it. As I've mentioned above, Lenovo P780's USB OTG function can also recharge other mobile devices.
